Glyphosate - the active ingredient of broad-spectrum herbicide Roundup ® is used almost all over the world as weed killer. Glyphosate can also be detected in honeys and, in cases where the legal limit value is exceeded, it can be judged to be non-viable. FoodQS is the only laboratory in the world to analyze glyphosate with the so-called ELISA method. In a cooperation with Sension GmbH, the methodology was developed and established for honey. The analysis is very sensitive, specific, fast and cost-effective. Since the beginning of the analysis, more than 6000 honey samples (as of April 2017) have been tested for their glyphosate content.
